Melissa McShea is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Management at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Melissa completed her doctorate in public policy and administration along with master’s degrees in economics and public policy at The George Washington University. Before joining the John Jay faculty in August 2018, she was a visiting assistant professor of political science and public administration at the University of North Dakota. Melissa’s research interests lie in public budgeting and finance concentrating on state and local public finance, plus using economics as a framework for studying public policy issues. In addition to working in the private and non-profit sectors, Melissa has served governments at the local, state, and federal levels in various capacities.
